How to memorize the Holy Quran?

How to memorize the Holy Quran?

The memorization of the Holy Quran comes with great dedication. It is necessary to remain persistent and consistent in your learning. Then, you should be able to retain what you have learned.

The process of memorization begins with individual verses. You should break up the verses and repeat the chunks incessantly. Moreover, you should also connect these chunks together. From one verse to another, you should keep repeating them. This is the first step.

What you have memorized, you need to revise at a later time. Make a schedule of an hour for that purpose. After some time, you will have memorized a considerable part of the holy Quran like a whole Juz. At that stage, you will have to make time to revise the verses apart from your daily lesson. Why revise?

Abu Musa reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Be committed to the Quran. By the One in whose hand is my soul, it can leave you faster than a camel from its reins.”

Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5033, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 791

What you have memorized can leave you in an instant. Constant revision is a necessity. You can recite these verses in your Salah to make them even stronger. You will need another person to listen to your lessons and revisions.
